Prof Moh Ali AzizTo commemmorate 1 Muharram 1432 Hijriah, The center for Religious Studies, Universitas Brawijaya (PPA UB) conduct discussion and interactive dialogue with the Professor of IAIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, Prof Dr H Moh Ali Aziz, Thursday (23/12), in Masjid Fatahillah Central Office UB. The event, which was attended by many participants was opened by Vice Rector of Financial Affairs, Warkum Sumitro SH MH. The theme that was chosen for the event is "With the momentum of 1 Muharram 1432 Hijriah, we do Self Evaluation and Introspection for the better".
In his speech, Warkum Sumitro said that every muslim must understand the meaning in 1 Muharram. First, as a way to evaluate the things we've done in past and the way to introspect ourself to live our life in the future. Second, 1 Muharram is a time when Rasulullah SAW did hijrah from Mecca to Madinah, as ordered by Allah SWT. Although the condition in Mecca was critical at the time, and the journey to Madina is not easy. There are spirit of optimism in this event. Every changes that happened should be faced wisely and should there be problems or challenges, we must look for the best solution. Thirdly, however hard it the journey might be, if one is patient, tawakal and looking for the best solution, he will find success in the end.
Be an Optimal Muslim
Meanwhile, in his speech, Moh Ali Aziz said that the changing of year means talking about time and age. Many times Allah SWT swear by time. Wal fajri, wassubhi, wad dluha, wannahari, wal 'asri, wallaili, which has order to pray on each time. The professor of dakwah reminds us to introspect the quality of pray and age, moreover ofr those who has reached age forty and above. Specifically Allah SWT mention about the time in QS Fathir 35:37. It is also mentioned that in such age, man must have a good faith in QS Al-Ahqaf 46:15.
Moh Ali Aziz said that a good muslim must thrive to be an optimal muslim by doing more sunnah pray. Some of them are by jamaa pray/pray together in masjid (for men), reading Al-Qur'an, preparing good generation through iqra (reading) culture in the family, and talk and act selectively.[nun]
