Implementation of Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi will not be complete without any community services. This regard becomes the main purpose of Brawijaya University to have commitments into the society in each scientific area. In order to enliven its 54th anniversary, Brawijaya University held a social charity on free-of-charge cataract eye surgery located at Brawijaya University Academic Hospital, Saturday (7/Jan/2017). This free cataract eye surgery was followed by Malang residents of many areas particularly Jatimulyo, Sumbersari, Penanggungan and Sumbersekar after they passed screening in the initial stage.

Around 71 residents out of 144 registrants who have passed the screening, finally could join in cataract eye surgery with free-of-charge. The social charity activity could not gi away from the roles of IKA UB (Ikatan Alumni Universitas Brawijaya/Brawijaya University Alumni Bonding) in collaboration with Persatuan Dokter Mata Indonesia (PERDAMI/Indonesian Ophthalmologist Union). Initiatives of the alumni becomes an appropriate step in synergizing the entire elements to advance Brawijaya University. "Alumni give many roles in the 54th anniversary. They also invited ophthalmologists to join in the event," he said. Therefore, Brawijaya University expected the alumni bonding could continuously give the best contribution to their alma mater. Even according to him, the presence of three ministers who became keynote speakers in the 54th anniversary activities series a few days ago also not away from alumni bonding initiatives.

Meanwhile Brawijaya University Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Mohammad Bisri, MS also gave his appreciation into the alumni wh have collaborated with Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI).
